UNMIN welcomes appointment of coordinator of AISC

UN welcomed the appointment of a retired Nepal Army officer as coordinator of the Secretariat of the Special Committee to supervise, integrate and rehabilitate Maoist army personnel.

Kathmandu: UN on Wednesday welcomed the
appointment of a retired Nepal Army officer as coordinator of
the Secretariat of the Special Committee to supervise,
integrate and rehabilitate Maoist army personnel.

Representative of the Secretary-General in Nepal,
Karin Landgren hailed the appointment of retired Lieut Gen
Balananda Sharma as coordinator of the Army Integration
Special Committee (AISC) secretariat.

"The agreement reached between the parties yesterday
on the appointment of the coordinator of the Secretariat is a
welcome development that I hope will give renewed impetus to
implementation of the four-point agreement," she said.

The Representative of the Secretary-General also
called upon the concerned parties to come to swift agreement
on all matters that are essential to help facilitate the
