UNSC, OIC, UAE condemn Rabbani’s assassination

UNSC, OIC, UAE condemn Rabbani’s assassination Dubai: The UN Security Council on Wednesday strongly condemned the killing of Burhanuddin Rabbani, the former Afghan president and chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council, in a terrorist attack in the Afghan capital, Xinhua reported.

In the meantime, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) also strongly condemned the assassination of Rabbani.

OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased, government of Afghanistan and the Afghani people.

He also reiterated OIC's support to the Government and people of Afghanistan in their quest to live in peace and security.

Meanwhile, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has also condemned the killing of Rabbani, the chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council, and the country’s former president.

Rabbani was killed in a terrorist attack in capital Kabul on Tuesday.

Abdullah expressed the UAE's solidarity with Afghanistan in its efforts to combat extremism and terrorism. He also expressed heart-felt condolences to the government of Afghanistan and family of the deceased.
