Hillary Clinton said the US is committed to a common vision of a "stable, independent Afghanistan.

Washington: The US has strongly condemned the attack on British Council in Kabul which claimed 10 lives and said such terror acts will not affect its resolve in Afghanistan.

"Brutal attacks such as these will not lessen our resolve or our commitment to Afghanistan and the region," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a statement.

"The United States will continue to support the Afghan people and to assist the Afghan government, security forces, and civil society as they rebuild after decades of war," she said.

Hillary Clinton said the US is committed to a common vision of a
"stable, independent Afghanistan rid of the insurgency and
free from al Qaeda."

Condemning the "vicious and cowardly attack" in Kabul on
the British Council - an institution that is "dedicated" to
improving the lives of Afghans, she said, "We offer our most
heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all
those killed and injured."

Yesterday, a group of suicide attackers had stormed the
Council compound on the anniversary of Afghanistan`s
independence from Britain, triggering a five-hour firefight
that killed at least 10 people.
