Islamabad: At least seven militants,
including five foreigners, were killed and an equal numbers
injured today when missiles fired from a US drone struck a
house in Pakistan`s north Waziristan tribal region.
The drone fired missiles at the house of a local
tribesman Shriadin near Mir Ali, a main town in the region
which is known as a hub of Taliban and al-Qaeda linked
militants, TV channels reported.
Samaa TV reported that five foreigners were among
those killed. There was no official word on the attack at
Aisuri village, 20 kilometres east of Miranshah, the main town
in North Waziristan tribal district.
Local tribesmen said that pilotless aircraft had been
flying over North Waziristan before they fired missiles.
The US drones regularly carry out strikes in the
Pakistani tribal region.
American officials say the militants plan attacks
across the border on the US-led NATO forces and Afghan
Pakistan publicly opposes the drone attacks but
opposition parties allege that there is a secret understanding
between Pakistan and the US over the strike.
Pakistan denies any such agreement.
