Washington: Days after representatives of Taliban met with Afghan government officials and members of the Northern Alliance behind closed doors in Paris, the United States has reaffirmed its supports to an Afghan-led peace process.

"The United States, to support an Afghan-led peace process. We continue to support Afghans sitting down with other Afghans in pursuit of that goal," State Department Spokesman, Patrick Ventrell told reporters.

"I don`t have a lot more information for you about these particular meetings which were a track two, non-government event," he said, adding that the US was not represented in the Paris meeting.

"But clearly we`ve been in support of Afghans talking to Afghans about their future," he said in response to a question.
