US to introduce bill to cut aid to Pakistan
The bill would block the country’s aid unless the Obama administration reassures the Cong that they are cooperating in the war against terror.
Washington: A United States House of Representatives panel has unveiled a bill that would block the country’s aid to Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon and the Palestinian National Authority unless the Obama administration reassures the Congress that they are cooperating in the war against terror.
According to The Dawn, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will consider the bill authorizing the money on Wednesday.
A separate spending bill likely will provide 40 billion dollars for foreign operations next year, nine billion dollars less than the current amount and 11 billion dollars less than Obama requested.
The latest development comes as the House is looking at significant cuts in the annual budget for the State Department and foreign assistance.
