US told to respect Pak laws: Bilour

Bashir Ahmed Bilour said Pakistan is a sovereign country and cannot work under anyone’s thumb.

Peshawar: The United States has been told to respect Pakistan’s laws, senior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour said on Wednesday.

“We have told the US it should respect our laws as Pakistan is a sovereign country which cannot work under anyone’s thumb,” Bashir told media persons at Peshawar Press Club.

The Daily Times quoted him, as saying that American officials could only come and leave Peshawar when they had the Interior Ministry and the Foreign Ministry’s permission.

On Wednesday, the police even sent back the Americans who were leaving Peshawar without the required documents.

“We have standing orders from concerned ministries that no foreigner shall be allowed to enter or leave Peshawar without necessary documents,” a senior police official told Daily Times on the condition of anonymity.
