Washington: The United States is waiting for
Pakistan to conclude its internal discussion on the status and
nature of US-Pak relationship so that both countries can
continue consulting, a top Clinton aide has said.
"There are some internal discussions within Pakistan, and
we are awaiting the conclusion of those so that we can
continue consulting," State Department spokesperson Victoria
The United States, she said, continues to work with
the Pakistan Government on aspects of the bilateral
relationship that are moving forward, she said adding that it
is in regular contact with Pakistani leaders and officials.
"There are internal discussions going on in Pakistan
among political leaders and entities, but there`s also
discussion in the parliament on some of the issues that we
share," she said.
"So as I said in answer to the other question, the
degree to which the Pakistani Government is not yet ready to
engage on where we go next on some of these issues, we are
awaiting that consultation that we need to have with Pakistan
when it is ready," Nuland said.
