We know where Benazir murder plot was hatched: Malik

Pervez Musharraf has been slapped with arrest warrant in Benazir murder case.

London: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that he knows where the plot to assassinate former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was hatched.

“We know at whose house the murder plot of Benazir Bhutto was hatched, and from where the suicide jackets had come,” The News quoted Malik, as saying in London.

Musharraf, who has been slapped with an arrest warrant in the Benazir murder case, is alleged to have been part of a “broad conspiracy” to have his political rival Benazir killed before elections, though the exact nature of the charges against him is not clear.

Addressing the Pakistani community in London, Malik said that Musharraf was not being subjected to political vindictiveness in the assassination case.

Lots of questions were asked from Musharraf regarding the assassination of Benazir, but he refused to give any response, the minister added.

Talking about the case of double murder-accused US official Raymond Davis, Malik said that no international pressure would be accepted on the issue, and that only Pakistani courts would decide the case according to the law.

He also said that Pakistan was in a state of war and the nexus of banned organisations- Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Tehrik-e-Taliban and al Qaeda- was trying to destabilise the country.

Some forces were also against the nuclear prowess of Pakistan, he added.

Malik urged the overseas Pakistanis to send their money through legal channels, so that more foreign revenue could be generated and the country be put on the path of prosperity.
