West Nepal hit by moderate quake

The epicentre of the quake was said to be near Pithoragarh in neighbouring Uttarakhand.

Kathmandu: Parts of western Nepal, situated near Indian border, were rocked by a moderate earthquake on Saturday.
The quake measuring 5 on the Richter scale was felt in the western part of Darchula district, some 700 km west of Kathmandu, according to National Seismological Department of Nepal.

The epicentre of the quake was said to be near Pithoragarh in neighbouring Uttarakhand.

There was no immediate report of any damage to property or causality in the tremor, according to the officials.
