Karachi: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari had thanked the US delegation after winning the 2008 Pakistan’s Parliamentary Elections, the whistle- blowing website WikiLeaks has revealed.

According to a diplomatic cable sent by former US envoy Anne Patterson to Washington, Asif Ali Zardari, along with his foreign policy team, called on US Representatives Shiff and Schwarts to thank them.

Zardari thanked the US for extending support for the Parliamentary Elections, which was crucial in bringing the Pakistan People’s Party to power, The News reports.

"We are here because of you,” Zardari had said.

Zardari had said the war against terrorism was not only US and Pakistan’s agenda and criticised former president Pervez Musharraf for not taking satisfactory counter-terrorism measures.
