Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari
on Saturday joined celebrations at the British High Commission to
mark Queen Elizabeth`s 85th birthday and the wedding of Prince
Williams and Catherine Middleton in London.

Speaking at the reception arranged by the High
Commission, Zardari expressed his best wishes for the newly
married couple and prayed for their happiness.

He said it was a very happy moment being shared by the
British royal family and the people of Pakistan.

Zardari cut a cake to mark the occasion.

He stayed at the party for some time, mingled with
guests and exchanged pleasantries.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani
Khar, federal ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, senior
officials and people from different walks of life were among
the guests.

British High Commissioner Adam Thomson said, "The two
happy events mark the start of a tremendously exciting period
for the UK and the Commonwealth. The Queen`s birthday is also
an occasion to reflect on the close ties that bind UK and
Pakistan.

"These ties were forged by history. It is a
partnership that is set to become more vital and important,"
he said.

Large television screens were installed under a big
