Zardari threat to Pak’s democracy: Nawaz Sharif

He said that the government has made Pakistan a beggar in front of the world due to its corruption.

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has said his prediction that President Asif Ali Zardari is a threat to the country’s democracy, has come true.

“President Zardari is proving to be a threat to democracy, as I predicted a few years back”, The Express Tribune quoted Sharif, as saying.

Addressing a meeting of his party’s Central Working Committee, he severely criticised Zardari and held his government responsible for the increase in foreign loans, corruption, bad governance, poor foreign policy and unprecedented loadshedding across the country.

“The country is being run in a very shameful way and the rulers are insensitive to the problems of the masses,” The News quoted the PML-N chief, as saying.

Sharif said that during his premiership, Pakistan was in debt of only 3 trillion rupees, but now the country’s foreign loans have exceeded 8 trillion rupees.

He said that the government has made Pakistan a beggar in front of the world due to its corruption.

The investors are hesitant to invest in Pakistan while the domestic investors are also moving their businesses out of the country, he added.

Sharif also said that the present government has given the people of Pakistan nothing but humiliation, and that the country is being isolated internationally due to the wrong policies of the Zardari government.
