Islamabad: Pak’s President Asif Ali Zardari will leave for the US on Wednesday to attend the memorial service of late Special Envoy Richard Holbrooke, who died last month.

Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said Zardari will attend the memorial service in Washington on Friday and join leaders from across the world in paying homage to Holbrooke.

Zardari is also expected to hold talks with senior US officials, sources said.

The President telephoned leaders of key political parties today and consulted them about his visit to the US.

Zardari talked to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain and Awami National Party leader Asfandyar Wali Khan.
