Zeenews Bureau New Delhi: You got to be lucky for this one. Asteroid 2012 DA14 will zoom past Earth tonight, presenting a rare opportunity for sky gazers, especially amateur ones, to soak in the sights of the interplanetary visitor. Although Asteroid 2012 DA 14 will come very close to earth – less than 17,200 miles – it will not be visible from all parts of the globe. While people in Indonesia would find it easiest to catch a glimpse of it between 18:00 and 22:00 GMT, people in other countries of Asia, Eastern Europe and Australia can also catch a glimpse using a binocular. During the window, it can be seen as a fast travelling celestial object, crossing an area of the sky as wide as the full moon roughly every 30 seconds. Asteroid 2012 DA14 is about half the size of a football field. The asteroid will come closest to the Earth at 19:25 GMT. As per NASA, the space rock will be 60 times fainter than the faintest star visible with the naked eye. However, the most important factor will be clear weather conditions. Want to avoid the hassle?
