New Delhi: A penumbral lunar eclipse will grace the night sky on Friday (October 18). Skywatchers in Europe, Africa, parts of the Americas and parts of Asia will be able to view the celestial phenomenon.
A penumbral eclipse occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth’s penumbra or only the outer edge of the Earth’s portion.
The event will last for a duration of four hours.
Observers in North America and South America can view the eclipse around the time of moonrise. Further, the eclipse will be visible during midnight to observers in Africa Europe, and western Asia.
The next total lunar eclipse will fall on April 15, 2014.
