New Delhi: Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams is one of the four astronauts selected by NASA for its first commercial flights to the International Space Station (ISS).

Williams, along with Bob Behnken, Eric Boe and Doug Hurley will train closely with Boeing and SpaceX as they develop a new generation of human-rated space systems in partnership with NASA's Commercial Crew Program.

Watch the video below as Williams talked recently about some of the expectations of the Commercial Crew Program, which is working with Boeing and SpaceX, respectively, in a unique way focused on safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Williams, who set the records for most spacewalks by a woman and most time spacewalking by a woman in 2012 during Expedition 32 on the space station, also encouraged Indian students and startups to take part in the Commercial Crew Program.

The Commercial Crew Program is working with the American aerospace industry as companies develop and operate a new generation of spacecraft and launch systems capable of carrying crews to low-Earth orbit and the space station.
