18 girls in Team India for Women Hockey Asia Cup New Delhi: The national hockey selection committee today announced an 18-player squad for the 7th Women's Asia Cup to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from October 30.

The team was selected after a two-day trial camp, which concluded yesterday at SAI Centre in Bhopal.

The team includes two custodians, three defenders, six mid-fielders and seven forwards apart from four standby players.

The Selection Committee comprises Vidya Stokes, Col. Balbir Singh, B.P.Govinda, Madhu Yadav and Sita Mehta.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Deepika Murty, Savita.

Defenders: Binita Toppo, Subhadra Pradhan, Preety Sunila Kiro.

Midfeilders: Mamta Kharb, Deepika Thakur, Asunta Lakra, Mukta P. Barla, Vartika Singh, Monika Badran.

Forwards: Surinder Singh, Jasjeet Kaur, Saba Anjum, Rani, Ritu Rani, Chanchan Devi, Soundarya Yendala.

Standbys: Jasdeep Kaur (GK), TH. Ranjita Devi (Deep Defender), Kirandeep Kaur (Mid-Fielder) and Poonam Rani (forward).
