New Delhi: India today named a 20-member
Under-23 squad to compete in the SAFF Championship, to be held
in Dhaka, Bangladesh from December 4-13.
The squad has one senior international in Sushil Kumar
Singh and a few players who have attended senior national camp
in the recent past, including goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya,
Baldip Singh and Jagpreet Singh.
India, runners-up in the previous edition, have been
drawn in Group A along with Afghanistan, Nepal and defending
champions Maldives.
India open their campaign against Afghanistan on December
5 before taking on Nepal (December 7) and Maldives (December
9).
Group B consists of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and
Bhutan.
India, who have won the tournament four times before,
lost 0-1 to Maldives in the final of the 2008 edition in
Colombo.

Goalkeepers: Arindam Bhatacharya, Laximikant Kattimani.
Defenders: D Ravanan, Denzil Franco, Nirmal Chetri, Naoba
Singh, Ravinder Singh, Robert Lalthlamuana, Rowilson Rodrigues
Midfielder: Baldip Singh, Balwant Singh, Jagpreet Singh,
Jewel Raja, Jibbon Singh, Joaquim Abranches, Subodh Kumar.
Forwards: Jagtar Singh, Manish Maitahni, Jeje Lalpeklua,
Sushil Kumar Singh.
Coach: Sukhwinder Singh.
