Ahmedabad: Overnight leader Abhijit Chadha
fumbled on the front nine but his three-over 75 was still
enough to maintain his lead after the second round of the LG
Gujarat Open golf tournament here today.
At the midway stage, the Chandigarh lad has a tournament
total of two-over 146, three shots ahead of Pune golfer
Aditya Bhandarkar who carded 77 at Kensville Golf Club today.
Two shots behind was Delhi's Pawan Kumar, who stuttered
to an erratic 79.
Gagan Verma moved into fourth place with the best round
of the day, a two-over 74, to aggregate eight-over 152.
On a day devoid of any sub-par card, Chadha made the turn
at four-over and bogeyed the 10th as well.
The Chandigarh Golf Club player finally found his rhythm
and a birdie-birdie finish salvaged his card for the day.
"It seemed like I played two different rounds today. I
struggled with my hitting all through the front-nine and had
it not been for my putting, I could have easily made a couple
of more bogeys before I made the turn," Chadha later said.
"I had some really good par saves and that kept me in the
hunt. My hitting, which had let me down earlier in the round,
was much better on the back-nine and that helped me stem the
loss of shots," said the youngster, chasing his first win on
the tour.
