Bangkok: Along with C Muniyappa, Gaganjeet
Bhullar will spearhead the Indian challenge in next week's
Asian Tour International and the 21-year-old rising golfer
says he hopes to begin from where he left it in his fairytale
season last year.
The strapping Kapurthala pro was one of last year's
revelations when he won the Indonesia President Invitational
and posted three other runner-up finishes to finish sixth on
the Asian Tour Order of Merit. He also made his Major debut at
the British Open.
"Last year was a dream year and I feel really pumped up
about the new season ahead. I'll be playing in our first event
and I hope to get a good start," said a buoyant Bhullar.
"My aim is to keep improving every year, keep working
hard and the results will come," said the youngster.
Apart from Bhullar, Muniyappa too earned his breakthrough
win at the Hero Honda Indian Open when he outlasted Korea's
Lee Sung in a play-off.
A former caddie, Muniyappa's success was an inspiration
to many underprivileged golfers and the Indian would hope to
continue the same form that catapulted him to prominence.
James Kamte of South Africa will defend his title in the
USD 300,000 event at the Suwan Golf and Country Club.
Other top names who will grace the event include
Australians Marcus Both, Filipino Angelo Que, Singaporean
veteran Mardan Mamat, former Asian Tour number one Thaworn
Wiratchant, Chapchai Nirat and Chinnarat Phadungsil.
