Bologna fire coach as Serie A sets sacking record Milan: Struggling Bologna sacked coach Giuseppe Papadopulo and replaced him with Franco Colomba on Wednesday, bringing the number of managers sacked in Serie A this season to a record five after eight matches.

Papadopulo, appointed just over six months and 15 games ago, has paid the price for just one win so far this term and the northern club have quickly recruited the much-travelled Colomba, who last coached Ascoli to mid-table in Serie B.

"Bologna announce they have relieved Giuseppe Papadopulo of his duties. Franco Colomba has been entrusted with the first team," a statement read on their website.

Bottom club Livorno brought in Serse Cosmi on Tuesday after dismissing joint-coaches Gennaro Ruotolo and Vittorio Russo while AS Roma, Atalanta and Napoli have already changed managers.

Serie A has always had a high coaching turnover but the financial implications of dropping out of the top flight have become so marked that club presidents are leaving no time to waste.

Bologna, whose takeover by an Albanian tycoon fell through at the start of the season, have changed coach three times in 14 months.
