Ahmedabad: Pune lad Aditya Bhandarkar
returned one of the only two under-par cards of the day to
join overnight leader Abhijit Chadha at the top after the
penultimate round of the LG Gujarat Open golf tournament here
on Thursday.
The 20-year-old Bhandarkar carded one-under 71 to tie
Abhijit Chadha, who went 74 today, at four-over 220 for the
tournament.
Late bogeys pulled Chadha back and the two players will
now go head-to-head in the last round in search of their
maiden win on Tour.
Pawan Kumar, meanwhile, retained his position on the
leaderboard but is now nine shots behind the leaders,
alongside Ambala's Manav Das.
"It was a very satisfying day for me as I started off
poorly but I managed to get back on track with the chip-in
birdie on the fifth. On the back-nine, even though my scoring
has been better this week, it was important for me to hit the
ball well because it can get tight at places. I guess, the
real challenge begins tomorrow," Bhandarkar later said.
