Kolkata: Bangalore lad Chikkarangappa and Chandigarh's Ashbeer Saini turned in identical two-under 68s to share the opening round lead in the Lalit Suri Eastern India Junior/Sub-Junior Open golf tournament.
Young Viraj Madappa, playing in C category, caused a flutter with a one-under 69 to be placed third overall.
Rommel Majumdar was fourth at 70 while Khalin Joshi, Rishi Arora and Ankur Chadha were tied for the fifth position at one-over 71.
Chikka took the turn at level par and birdied the 10th and 15th holes in his bogey-free return journey.
Honey Baisoya and Pukhraj Gill shared the lead in Category B with a round of 4-over 74.
