New Delhi: Following the vacating of the
Rajasthan High Court's stay order, Hockey India has called a
meeting with different factions in Maharashtra on April 20 to
clear the decks for the much-awaited poll process of the
national federation by May 31.
HI seceretary general Narinder Batra said after getting
the go-ahead from Rajasthan High Court, they will now ask all
seven units in Maharashtra, who objected to the affiliation
process, to either merge or stay away from the elections which
has to be completed by May 31 as per International Hockey
Federation's ultimatum.
"We have cleared the first hindrance. The Rajasthan High
Court vacated the stay order on the affiliation process. All
the 30 states and four instituitional teams are now
recognised. Now we have called on a meeting with different
factions of Maharashtra on April 20 to solve their
differences," Batra told reporters.
"We will ask them to form a unified body and participate
in the election process. If the still refuse to bury their
differences we will be forced to go ahead with the elections.
I am hopeful that the elections will be conducted within May
31," he said.
In a letter issued to different units of Maharashtra, HI
said only authorised representatives of each body can
participate in the meeting, which will also be attended by
Government observor and nominess.
"Based on the Orders of Hon'ble High Court of Judicature
at Bombay, Civil Appellate Jurisdiction in writ petition No:
329 of 2010, you are requested to be present in Bombay on
Tuesday 20th April," the letter said.
"Please get along with you all documents. Only maximum
two representatives from the unit will be allowed in the
meeting. The representatives have to be from amongst president
or secretary or general secretary or treasurer. And the
representatives attending should carry ID proof with them. No
proxy attendance will be permitted.”
"Any unit not attending the meeting will be deemed to
have given its consent to the decision taken as a result of
these meetings," the letter added.
