Kolkata: India will strive to erase their bitter memories of World Championship, when they take to field at the fourth Asian Grand Prix to be held at SAI Eastern India Complex here from September 16-19.
With competitors from Bangladesh, Iran, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bhutan and Nepal, the hosts are confident of a good show in the four-day championship.
“We had a disappointing outing in Ulsan (South Korea). Everybody was very upset. But we can hope for a good show this time here,” India coach Limba Ram said.
The Indians had returned empty-handed from the World Championship held in Ulsan from September 1-9.
“We have a very strong medal chance here. The competition here cannot be compared with that of World Championship and I am sure that our boys will do very well,” Limba said.
The Asian GP is a FITA World Record and World Ranking tournament and the chairman of the FITA International Judge Committee, Morton B Wilmann will be present for the technical conduct of the championship.
The main championship will begin on September 17 with ranking round, while individual elimination round will be held on the next day, followed by team and individual finals.
