Milan: The new Serie A season is set to get underway this weekend, and as per usual, all of the talk in the lead up surrounds the favourites for the championship.
Having won four consecutive titles, Inter are the frontrunners at this point, but Juventus are expected to be with them every step of the way. Milan, on the other hand, have considerably dropped off over the pre-season, according to many, and could struggle to compete.
Despite this, the Rossoneri midfielder Andrea Pirlo believes that although his team are not the favourites, they will still be a genuine contender this term.
“We want to win it this season,” an optimistic Pirlo revealed.
“With some sacrifice, I’m sure that we will have a great season, which hopefully will help us achieve our goal of winning it.”
“We have a great team with great players, so there’s no reason why we can’t win.”
“Inter? Sure they are the favourites, but we are happy to come in as the underdogs. We still have plenty of time to prove ourselves.”
Milan get their campaign started with a trip to Tuscany to take on Siena at the Artemio Franchi stadium this Saturday.
