Milan: Inter Milan forward Mario Balotelli's fine for provoking Chievo Verona fans last month has been reduced on appeal from 7,000 to 2,000 euros (($9,599 to $2,743), the Italian Football Federation said on Friday.
The Italy under-21 international, who is of Ghanaian descent and has often suffered racist abuse, was penalised for clapping at home fans when being substituted during Inter's 1-0 win.
Balotelli, who created the goal, said he was responding to racist boos and some commentators were surprised he was fined. Chievo were not punished for their fans' behaviour.
