Doha: None of the three Indians in fray
could bring home a sub-par card and Shiv Kapur lied tied 50th
after an average opening round of two-over 74 in the Qatar
Masters golf tournament here today.
Among his compatriots, SSP Chowrasia brought home
three-over 75 to be tied 67th, two strokes ahead of Jyoti
Randhawa, who was languishing at tied 94th.
Shiv Kapur was one-under after his first 10 holes before
bogeys on the 11th, 13th and 15th marred his card.
In contrast, Chowrasia got off to a nightmarish
bogey-bogey start and was six-over after 13 holes before
launching a damage-minimising effort with birdies on the
fifth, sixth and ninth holes.
For Randhawa, nothing went right except the 12th hole
birdie.
The lanky golfer bogeyed the 10th, his opening hole, 13th
and 15th to be two-over at the turn and dropped three more
bogeys to go five-over.
English pro Oliver Wilson shared the lead with Walesman
Bradley Dredge at five-under 67.
