Queen’s Baton travels to 2012 London Olympic sites New Delhi: The Queen’s Baton on Saturday passed through different venues of 2012 London Olympics Games in Newham where it was given a rousing welcome by a host of former and present athletes.

Among those present were Olympic and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Tessa Sanderson, the 98-year-old Faujah Singh, who is record-holder in world over-90 marathon, Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales and CWG England President Kelly Holmes.

The baton first reached the Opening Ceremony site at the Olympic Stadium, Greenway, where Sanderson received it.

The baton then travelled to Newham Leisure Centre where it was passed through the hands of Newham and Essex Beagles athletes.

On Sunday the baton will leave the shores England after passing through Twickenham, a town and suburb in the south west of London.

The Queen Baton’s relay for 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games was launched on October 29 from Buckungham Palace.
