Panaji: Goa Football Association (GFA) has postponed the first round match of the second edition of the I-League between Salgaocar Sports Club and Viva Kerala which was to be played tomorrow at Vasco due to incessant rains.
Heavy downpour has rendered the ground unplayable, Savio Messais, Secretary of the GFA, said here on Friday.
The match, to be played at the newly laid turf at Nehru Stadium, was shifted to Vasco ground to avoid the turf getting spoilt in the rains.
But the continuous heavy rains for the past few days have rendered the Vasco ground unplayable, forcing the GFA to put off the tie, he said.
If rains continue tomorrow also, the match between Sporting Clube de Goa and Air India, to be held on October 4, too is likely to be postponed, said Messais.
A final decision on Sunday’s tie will be taken on Saturday, the GFA Secretary said.
