Agra: Karnataka's Mundir Sherazi fought his
way into the semifinals of the National Billiards and Snooker
Championships, edging past Orissa's Kunal Agarwal 452-449 in a
thrilling match here today.
Sherazi, who has already won the junior title, overcame
some anxious moments in the two-hour-long quarterfinal to dash
Agarwal's hopes on the fourth day of the three-week-long event
at Hotel Clarks Shiraz.
Sherazi will now face Maharashtra's Aditya Agarwal in the
semifinal, who defeated Madhya Pradesh's Ketan Chawla 554-286
in the other quarterfinal encounter.
Agarwal showed exemplary nerves and potted the ball into
every corner of the table to outclass his opponent.
In other quarterfinals, Gujarat's Dhwaj Haria registered
an emphatic 507-281 win over West Bengal's Jai Shankar Shaw to
move to the next level.
Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB)'s Shahbaz Khan
got the better off Andhra Pradesh's Himanshu Jain to set up
his semifinal with Haria.
Khan had to work hard initially but later made it easy
for himself, cruising to a 651-366 win.
