Srither loses in pre-quarters of world archery Kolkata: National compound men’s champion Chinna Raju Srither was the lone Indian to move into the pre-quarterfinals before losing to the top seed in the 45th world archery championship at Ulsan, South Korea, Saturday.

The Indian Army archer lost to the top seed Reu Wilde of US 113-116 at the Ulsan International Archery Field, according to information received here.

The other two Indian entries in the men’s section Chungda Sherpa and Kh. Ratan Singh lost in the second round to higher ranked opponents. Sherpa fell to seventh seed Dejan Sitar of Slovakia 112-116 while Ratan Singh was beaten by 29th-ranked Dietmar Trillus of Canada 112-117.

The three Indian women gave a poor display to bow out in the first round.

Jhano Hansdah lost to much lower ranked Susanna Makkonen of Finland 105-110, Manjudha Soy was beaten by Dorith Landesfeind of Germany in tie-breaker 103 (9) - 103 (10) and S. Jayalakshmi was outplayed by Fatima Agudo of Spain 101-109.
