New Delhi: Tarundeep Rai and Deepika Kumari bagged golds in mens and womens individual recurve categories as India finished their campaign at the invitational archery test event for 2010 Commonwealth Games with 13 medals, here on Friday.
Tarundeep won all the three sets to beat compatriot Kapil for the gold medal in men’s individual recurve event, while another Indian Rahul Banerjee defeated C Sian Chu of Malaysia for the bronze.
Among their woman counterparts, Deepika defeated C Swuro to claim gold and then India’s Sushma beat compatriot Pranitha Vardhineni for the bronze at the Yamuna Sports Complex, which will host the preliminary rounds of archery events during the October 3-14 mega-event.
The hosts finished their campaign with a total of 13 medals – four gold, five silver and four bronze, a release said.
Meanwhile, Malaysian M Z Mahazan bagged the gold medal in men’s individual compound category, defeating Indian C Sherpa. Chinna Raju Srither won the bronze, defeating I R Sanam in an all-Indian contest.
In women’s individual compound category, O’Sullivan got the better of Gagandeep Kaur to clinch the gold and England’s N R Simpson won the bronze, beating T Mc Gowan of Scotland.
