New Delhi/ London: Swimming star Rebecca Adlington has confirmed her participation in 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games but her other team mates have reportedly denied taking New Delhi bound flight in September, fearing security issues.
With reports of six athletes withdrawing their names from the Commonwealth team list, the Indian Olympic Committee called in an emergency meeting to tackle the situation and prevent any further exodus.
The six athletes, who have reportedly refused to come to India, are primarily from athletics and gymnastics discipline.
However, Craig Hunter, Team England's chef de mission, has played down fears of a mass exodus of top athletes at the 2010 Commonwealth Games after the decision by gold medal prospects from athletics and gymnastics to miss next October's event., London’s The Telegraph quoted.
Earlier, Britain's top three gymnasts Beth Tweddle, Louis Smith and Daniel Keatings decided to miss the Delhi Commonwealth Games citing health issues and preparations ahead of London Olympics in 2012.
