Melbourne: World golf No. 1 Tiger Woods arrived in Australia aboard his private jet Monday, days ahead of his first appearance in an Australian tournament in 11 years.
Woods will receive AUD 3.3 million (USD 3 million) in appearance fees to play in the AUD 1.5 million Australian Masters, which starts at Melbourne's Kingston Heath course on Thursday.
The most recent of Woods' three previous tournament appearances in Australia was as a 21-year-old member of the U.S. team which lost the 1998 Presidents Cup in Melbourne.
Woods finished sixth behind Phil Mickelson on the weekend at the WGC event at Shanghai, China.
