Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday said about 17 people have so far died of swine flu in the state and 27 districts have been affected by the dreaded disease.

In a written reply, Health Minister Anant Kumar Singh told the state Assembly that maximum cases of the virus have been reported from state capital, Lucknow (356).

A total of 218 cases were reported from Ghazibad, 215 from Gautam Budhnagar and Kanpur (32), the minister said.

Singh said efforts were being made to get vaccines for the virus from the centre and the state government was taking measures to check the virus.
