New Delhi: BJP leader Vijay Goel on Sunday alleged that Delhi government and the organising committee of 2010 Commonwealth Games were indulged in money laundering in the name of preparation for the international sports event.

"The government machinery and the organising committee slept over the preparations till the last minutes and with the deadline now fast approaching, we find that both Delhi government and the committee raise new demands every other day," a release, quoting the general secretary of BJP, said.

The leader expressed surprise over the alleged fund allocation by the Centre to them that too without any check. He also demanded the audit by the Auditor General of funds issued and used in the name of the Commonwealth Games.

Politics apart, no government whether UPA or BJP organising commonwealth games would get involved in any money laundering or misuse of public funds. As per the normal practice, proper accounting and audit of the funds spent has to be carried out. Therefore, unnecessary apprehensions should be avoided.
