Ranchi: Deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto on Thursday said 68 per cent of the households in Jharkhand did not have electricity while 73 per cent lived in kutcha houses.

"We have these challenges and we got an opportunity to address them despite getting a fractured mandate," Mahto, the AJSU-LP leader said while speaking in favour of the government-sponosred confidence motion in the state assembly.

Listing the government's priorities on electrification, housing, employment, migration and displacement, Mahto said naxalism was also on the topmost agenda for a lasting solution.

Referring to the dialogue between Andhra Pradesh government and the Naxalites some years ago, Mahto said an atmosphere for talks should be created and assured the house that the government was serious about addressing problems facing the state.
