Ranchi: The wife of abducted Block
Development Officer of Dalbhumgarh Prashant Kumar Layek
on Sunday night met Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren to apparently
convey the telephonic talk she allegedly had with regard to
the release of her husband.
"The wife of BDO of Dalbhumgarh in East Singhbhum district
has come to meet the Chief Minister. Both the Deputy Chief
Ministers, Sudesh Mahto and Raghuvar Das are also present,"
the CM's press advisor, Safiq Ansari, said here.
Poreyahat MLA and JVM-P leader Pradeep Yadav was also
present in the meeting as the BDO hails from Dumka district in
Santhal Pargana under which Poreyahat assembly constituency
falls.
Ansari, however, did not give any detail of the
meeting.
Manoj Kumar, who accompanied the BDO's wife, claimed
before the waiting media that the Maoists had called up the
BDO's home and demanded release of three arrested persons for
release of Layek, who was abducted yesterday by four armed men
at Dalbhumgarh in East Singhbhum.
"We want his safe release. They telephoned and asked us
to meet the Chief Minister and tell him to release three
arrested persons," Kumar said.
Earlier during the day, Soren denied having received
any condition from the Maoists for Layek's release.
The Chief Minister assured the BDO's wife that the state
administration has been taking up all steps to rescue her
husband safely, Kumar claimed.
