Indore: Expressing displeasure over
allowing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to address students in a
city college and encouraging youths to join politics, ABVP
today demanded resignation of the Vice Chancellor for
violating the rules of the university.
"By allowing Congress General Secretary to use
university campus for political purpose, it has been
established that the Devi Ahilyabai Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV)
has turned into a Congress campus," ABVP Assistant
Coordinator, Gaurav Randive told reporters.
He claimed that to a question on January 19, Rahul
himself admitted that the programme organised in the
auditorium is of National Students Union of India (NSUI).
Rahul Gandhi had called upon students and youths to
join the party's frontal organisations -- NSUI and Youth
Congress in large numbers as politics only can lead to
necessary changes in the nation.
As per the DAVV Act, its premises cannot be used for
any political purpose and therefore, the Vice Chancellor A S
Sherawat should resign from the post on moral grounds.
However, Sherawat clarified that the Congress youth
leader was invited in the campus to interact with the students
on current affairs and get encouragement in life to do better.
