New Delhi: He pursues a course in acting, but his skills in impersonation as the son of Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi to get some VIP passes for the World Cup Hockey matches failed to hoodwink IOC chief Suresh Kalmadi.

Raj Dwivedi (28), hailing from Amethi, landed in police net on Sunday when he sent his academy head to Kalmadi's office to collect 12 VIP passes for the high-profile match between India and Pakistan.

Raj, pursuing a course in acting from an academy in Greater Kailash here for the past two years, allegedly posed as Dwivedi's son and called Indian Olympic Association chief's office here asking for 12 VIP passes for the match.

Police sources said Raj sent Anand, the chief of the academy, to Kalmadi's office on Sunday to collect the passes.

Anand first collected the 12 passes and later came back to demand more. The IOC chief's office found it a little suspicious and called police and Kalmadi.

Anand was taken into custody. During questioning, he told police that Raj claimed as Dwivedi's son promised him the tickets. Police then conducted a raid in Rohini where Raj is staying and arrested him.

Raj, who came to the capital four years ago, allegedly confessed to police that he telephoned Kalmadi's office posing as Dwivedi's son to get the passes for him and his friends to watch the match between the arch hockey rivals.

He was produced before a court which send him to judicial custody. Raj is currently in Tihar jails.

Police are now looking into his antecedents and whether he had cheated others posing as Dwivedi's son.
