Chennai: With a general alert in place ahead
of the Babri mosque demolition anniversary tomorrow, police
has stepped up security across Tamil Nadu, senior officials
said.
Highly placed police officials said security has been
'stepped up' in all districts of the state, including coastal
ones.
"There is no specific alert. There is a only a general
alert and we have stepped up security all over the state,"
officials said.
Increased patrolling and intensified checking in lodges
are part of the vigil while presence of security personnel in
places like airports, railway stations and bus stands has been
strengthened, they said adding vital installations have been
given enhanced security cover.
The state police was coordinating with the railways on
security, the sources added.
