Patna: Intensifying anti-naxal operations, Bihar government has raised cash rewards for those providing information leading to arrests of Maoist leaders who have been evading arrest for long, official sources said today.

"We have raised the rewards on Maoist leaders, including their self-styled area commanders, which will now range from Rs 50,000 to Rs three lakh. Earlier it was from Rs 20,000 to one lakh," they said.

Vijay Kumar Arya alias Jaipal alias Dilip, a dreaded Maoist, now carries a reward of Rs three lakh on his head, followed by Jagdish Yadav alias Masterji and Satish Pandey who carries a reward of Rs two lakh each on their heads, the sources said.

Sitaram Rajwar, another Maoist evading arrest for a long time, carries a cash reward of Rs one lakh on his head and any information leading to arrests of Maoist leaders like Vijay Yadav, Birendra Yadav alias Rana, Mangal Chero, Ram Bali Kharbar, Sanjhwad Chero and Bodan Sada can fetch one Rs 50,000 each.

"The increase in cash rewards will come handy in getting information for arresting the absconding Maoists," the sources said.
