Lucknow: Accusing the Mayawati government
of "bringing disrepute to constitutional institutions" in
Uttar Pradesh, BJP has came out with a "chargesheet"
highlighting the failures of the BSP-led government in the
state.
The 18-page chargesheet holds the Mayawati government
responsible for "constitutional breakdown and violation of
human rights" with police unleashing a reign of terror in the
state, BJP state unit spokesperson Hriday Narain Dixit said
here today.
"There is constitutional breakdown in the state as the
government has not been adhering to the Supreme Court's
directives and has also institutionalised corruption," Dixit
said.
The government has also failed in carrying out its
basic task of providing relief to common people, including
farmers who are being made to run about for their needs, Dixit
said, adding that the party has submitted a copy of the
"chargesheet" to Governor B L Joshi.
BJP is now planning to get five lakh copies of the
"chargesheet" printed in a booklet form, with which its
activists would fan out to villages to apprise the common
people of the misdeeds of the government and how it was
misusing their trust.
People would be reminded that they are supreme in
a democracy and that they should take decisions judiciously at
the time of elections, he added.
