Kokrajhar (Assam): The Bodoland People's
Front (BPF) on Thursday rejected the possibility of a tie-up with
Congress in the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council polls
and said it would field candidates in all 40 seats.
"There will be no seat-sharing nor any kind of alliance
with the Congress," BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary told reporters
here.
The Congress, which is in power in the state, and BPF
have already entered into an alliance at the state-level with
three members of the latter included as ministers in the Tarun
Gogoi-led government.
Noting that certain party workers are opposed to the
tie-up at council level, Mohilary rejected reports of an
alliance with Congress for the April nine elections and said
his party will contest all 40 seats.
The BTC chief, however, made it clear that his party's
alliance with the Congress at the state-level will remain and
the latter was free to field their own candidates in all the
seats for the council elections.
