Kolkata: Political adversaries West Bengal
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Trinamool Congress
chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday accused each other of being
hand-in-glove with Maoists in the state.
"They are happy if our partymen are killed by Maoists.
But, do they realise what will happen to them? They will also
not be spared," Bhattacharjee told a Left Front rally at
Barasat in neighbouring North 24 Parganas district.
"Trinamool Congress and Maoists are working
hand-in-hand," he said.
Banerjee at a press conference at her Kalighat residence
countered the allegations and said Maoists were operating with
"police arms" with the help of CPI(M).
"Who is Kisenji? Who is Chhatradhar (Mahato)? Who is
Bikash? All of them are creations of CPI(M)," she claimed.
"If Trinamool Congress is voted to power in next assembly
elections, we vow to drive away Maoists from the state with
the help of the people.
"We will fight the Maoists in West Midnapore, Bankura and
Purulia. We don't need any help from the Centre," she said.
Banerjee said it was 'a blatant lie' that Maoists helped
in the success of the Singur movement. "The movement was
successful because of my 26-day fast," she said.
