Gangtok: Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling
today acknowledged dissidence in his Sikkim Democratic Front,
in power for the fourth consecutive term, but said he "cared
little for it so long the people supported his government".
"I have knowledge of the dissident activities in SDF
which is being led by some disgruntled leaders...but I care
little for such elements as long as the people are behind me,"
he said at a function at Ranka, which is in Upper Burtuk
assembly constituency held by MLA P S Tamang, the catalyst of
the rebel group.
"I will not seek to appease the disgruntled elements,"
Chamling said and asked the dissident leaders to go their
separate ways if they were not happy with the party and its
leadership.
Chamling admitted the dissident activities after his
emissaries failed to placate Tamang to discharge his duties as
an MLA.
Tamang, a four-term senior MLA, has been sulking ever
since he was not included in the Chamling ministry formed in
May this year after SDF's fourth consecutive win.
