Chennai: Classes at Annamalai University in
Chidambaram, which was closed indefinitely following the death
of three students fleeing to escape a police lathicharge early
this month, will resume from March 29, the University
announced on Saturday.
"The Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai Univeristy announces that
the BE second and Third Year classes will be reopened on March
29," an official release from the University Registrar here
said.
The bodies of three engineering students were fished out
from a canal when they fell into it while fleeing to escape
the lathicharge, protesting the death of a fellow student
injured in a mishap due to alleged negligence of varsity
medical college authorities.
