Jammu: Underlining the need to strengthen
relations between civil and military authorities, Jammu and
Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the
Civil-Military Liaison Conference (CMLC) should be pro-active
in resolving issues of mutual interests.
Chairing the CMLC of Western and Northern Commands
here, Abdullah said, "The degree of cooperation and
coordination between civil administration and army has
increased and our efforts should be to further strengthen it."
While the Unified Command meetings provide for
addressing security related issues, the civil matters could be
easily worked out at the CMLCs, he said and added that rapport
between army and the government is all the more important in a
border state like Jammu and Kashmir.
The chief minister said relations between civil
administration and military authorities was good and they
have to strengthened to create a homogeneous thought process
for settling various issues.
Abdullah emphasised regular interaction between
representatives of the army and civil administration at
Divisional Commissioner level.
Commanders of Western and Northern Commands Lt Gen T K
Sapru and Lt Gen B S Jaswal extended fullest support to the
Chief Minister and civil administration from their side.
